This project involved panel upgrades and new wiring. Mee Industries, Inc. installed a high-pressure, misting sprayer to control the dust at the City of Berkeley Transfer Station.

Berkeley Electric was called in to install a 480-volt, 60-amp power source for the high-pressure sprayer motor and control system. We also installed the four control stations located in the transfer warehouse.

To accomplish this project, we worked in motorized man lifts at heights up to 35 feet from the ground. All work had to be done after hours and was coordinated by the Berkeley and Mee Industries supervisors.

We were called to install a 208/120-volt, 400-amp electrical service for the new temporary police station. This also required installing a separate electrical panel for the existing back-up generator so that the IT room would continue to have power during emergency conditions.

Berkeley Electric also restored the lighting systems for City major public parks. And we remain on call to ensure that the Refugio Park and Tennis Court’s lighting works correctly at all times.

ION Systems makes a negative-ion generator used primarily in “clean rooms.” They provide equipment and support for their systems with a small server farm that requires uninterrupted power 24/7/365.

Berkeley Electric was called in to design and install a 200-amp, 208/120-volt, three-phase back-up power system to keep the servers online in the event of a power failure. We installed an Automatic Transfer Switch, also known as ATS, so that the generator power will be turned on and up to full power in approximately 10 seconds!

For this project, Berkeley Electric built the concrete mounting platform; mounted the car-size generator; installed the panel boards, ATS, conduits, shunt-trip breakers, concrete coring, and wire racks; and rewired the power distribution and lighting. We also provide service for ION Systems manufacturing plant on a continual basis.

Berkeley Electric was asked to design and install a sub-metering system at building #112 that could read the power usage of the area controlled by Home Depot for employee training. Current transformers, also known as CTs, were used to make the current readings.

The pictures show the 6-750kcmil conductors for each phase of this system. The picture on the right is the front of the conductor pull-section. Mare Island Power is the power company, and the power meter is the one in the middle of the panel board. The other two meters are for amperage and voltage readings.
